Greece’s Public Power Corporation (PPC), active in Romania’s charging market since acquiring Enel Romania in 2023, is significantly expanding its footprint. Following EU-backed plans for over 100 fast chargers in Romania and Greece, PPC Blue, its charging brand, secured a major partnership with Dedeman, Romania’s largest DIY retail chain. This collaboration will see over 600 charging points with a combined 30 MW capacity installed at more than 60 Dedeman stores and two logistics centers, including stations for electric trucks. The first stations launch in December, with 21 stores equipped by end-2026, prioritizing underserved regions. Additionally, 60 existing Dedeman charging points will integrate into the PPC Blue network, bolstering reach and convenience for EV drivers.
Greece’s Public Power Corporation (PPC) has been active in Romania’s charging infrastructure market since 2023, when it acquired Enel Romania from the Italian Enel Group. Just weeks after unveiling plans to install more than 100 fast and ultra-fast charging points along major transport corridors in Romania and Greece with support from EU funding, the company has now secured additional locations for charging infrastructure in Romania under its PPC Blue charging brand.
PPC Blue has now entered into a partnership with Dedeman, Romania’s largest DIY retail chain, to install charging infrastructure at the retailer’s sites. The agreement covers more than 60 Dedeman stores as well as two logistics centres, where dedicated charging stations for electric trucks will be deployed.
The partners plan to install more than 600 charging points with a combined installed capacity of 30 MW. Based on these figures, the average power output would be around 50 kW per charging point. However, PPC Blue has not yet disclosed how the charging capacity will be allocated across the network or what mix of AC and DC chargers will be deployed.
“Charging an electric car should be as simple as a visit to the store. We want every electric vehicle driver in Romania to have a charging station within reach, regardless of the city they live in – and that is precisely why our partnership with Dedeman matters so much to us. Together, we reach places where people are already going, whether they live in a large city or in a smaller community,” said Andreea-Dana Popescu, general manager of PPC blue Romania.
“Expanding the electric mobility infrastructure through our collaboration with PPC blue is a natural step in a society where sustainable solutions are becoming increasingly important,” Dragoș Pavăl, president of Dedeman, is quoted as saying by Romania-Insider.com.
The first charging stations covered by the partnership are scheduled to go into operation in December at Dedeman stores in Câmpulung Moldovenesc, Roman, Alexandria, Târgu Jiu and Onești. PPC Blue plans to equip 21 stores with charging infrastructure by the end of 2026, with priority given to regions where public charging provision remains limited.
In addition, 60 existing charging points already installed at Dedeman locations will be integrated into the PPC Blue network, expanding the operator’s footprint in Romania.
