Peugeot, with Stellantis, developed the E-5008 Dog Edition concept, a study not planned for production, demonstrating vehicle tailoring for dog owners. In collaboration with the Stellantis Design Studio, Peugeot has developed the E-5008 Dog Edition concept. This study, based on the five-seat version of the fully electric SUV, demonstrates how vehicle concepts could be better tailored to the needs of dog owners, although the manufacturer has confirmed that series production is not planned.
At the heart of the pet-friendly E-5008 are numerous features designed for transporting dogs. These include a modular dog mat that doubles as a dog bed outside the vehicle, a padded window cushion for resting their head, protective mats, integrated feeding bowls, and a connected dog harness. Additionally, Peugeot has incorporated a dog dryer powered by the vehicle-to-load (V2L) function, which can be stored under the boot floor.
Peugeot has also expanded the vehicle’s digital functions with special applications. The navigation system now prioritises charging stops at locations with nearby green spaces or walking trails. This is complemented by a ‘Dog Guardian Mode’, which monitors the interior temperature and can alert the vehicle owner if a dog is left inside the car temporarily. Another feature, called ‘Dog Retriever’, uses an audible signal to call a lost dog back to the vehicle.
The drivetrain and battery technology remain identical to those of the standard Peugeot E-5008. The manufacturer has not announced any changes to performance, battery capacity, or charging capabilities. The focus of this study is solely on comfort and usability features for dog owners. With this concept, Peugeot is tapping into a growing trend: according to an IFOP survey cited by the manufacturer, 64% of dog owners want to take their dog on holiday, and for over 60%, their pet influences their choice of destination. While it remains unclear whether features like the dog dryer will enter series production, the study clearly demonstrates that the applications of the vehicle-to-load function are more diverse than previously thought.
