Fiat is significantly expanding its battery-electric light vehicle strategy, led by the Topolino, projected as Europe’s market leader in 2025. Fiat is introducing new Topolino design variants and a Collector’s Edition. The Fiat Tris, initially for last-mile delivery, is broadening its applications to leisure, hospitality (Dolcevita concept), and mobile retail via a partnership with Caffè Vergnano for mobile coffee concepts.
Looking ahead, the Multiplina Concept previews a four-seater L7e battery-electric vehicle for 2028, bridging the gap between the Topolino and conventional cars. This comprehensive micromobility ecosystem, encompassing the urban Topolino, versatile Tris, and future practical Multiplina, is a key focus for Fiat’s future, covering diverse urban mobility needs.
The already available Fiat Topolino remains at the centre of the strategy. According to Fiat, the battery-electric light vehicle was the market leader in Europe’s electric light vehicle segment in 2025. For the second quarter of 2026, the manufacturer expects a new record for orders, representing an increase of around 30 per cent compared to the same period last year.
At the same time, Fiat is broadening the model range with several new design variants, including Corallo, Dolcevita and Sport, as well as a Collector’s Edition developed in collaboration with Vilebrequin.
Fiat is also expanding the use cases for the Fiat Tris, which was first unveiled last year. Originally developed as a zero-emission platform for last-mile delivery services and initially targeted at markets in Africa and the Middle East, the vehicle is now being adapted for new applications in the leisure and hospitality sectors through the Dolcevita concept.
In addition, Fiat has announced a partnership with Caffè Vergnano to develop mobile coffee concepts based on the Tris platform. The collaboration aims to demonstrate how the electric three-wheeler can be used for small-scale mobile retail and hospitality services.
A preview of the next addition to the range is provided by the Multiplina Concept. The study reinterprets the historic Fiat 600 Multipla and is intended to bridge the gap between the Fiat Topolino and a conventional passenger car.
According to current plans, Fiat aims to introduce a four-seater battery-electric light vehicle in the L7e category, offering greater space and comfort than the Topolino. The production version is scheduled to arrive in 2028.
With the Fiat Topolino, Fiat Tris and the Multiplina Concept, Fiat is pursuing a broader strategy in the battery-electric light vehicle segment. While the Topolino is aimed at urban personal mobility and the Tris was originally developed for commercial delivery applications, the Multiplina is intended to provide a more practical light vehicle solution for up to four occupants.
Together, the three vehicles cover a wider range of use cases and mark the first time Fiat has brought its light electric vehicle activities together under a dedicated micromobility strategy.
Fiat CEO Olivier François described micromobility as a key focus for the brand’s future: “Today, with Topolino, Tris, and our vision for the future – Multiplina- we are building on our legacy and creating a complete ecosystem for the cities of tomorrow.”
